As we continue in Matthew’s Gospel, and head towards Good Friday, we see Jesus leaving beside the crowds to take His disciples aside to teach them about what it means for Him to be their Messiah, and this will mean that they will need to be aware of how the teachings of the Pharisees and Sadducees had infiltrated their understanding of who the Messiah would be, and what the Messiah would do.
